costume fittings

we did costume fittings recently. i can’t believe how many costumes i have! the hour fitting was a whirlwind of clothes flying everywhere!

i have a black outfit that i wear as ursula during all house scenes, including the party scene. i have a nun outfit (which came in pieces). i have a pink dress suit for the new postulant and that is being partially replaced with a new blouse top. and i am supposedly part of the trio that sings at the fesitval (we cover a scene or costume change, i believe), so i have an outfit for that. i think i’m missing something, but i’m not sure. there was just so much!

but apparently, i’ll also be wearing wigs as my non-von trap characters! most of the wigs i tried on were unstyled, so they looked like dead animals haha but it’s ok, i’m sure they’ll look great when they are styled. most were the same color and style as my real hair, so that’s kind of interesting. and supposedly i’m going to have some blond wig/hat combination as the trio singer. i imagine it’s going to look like a swedish milkmaid kinda thing form what was being described to me, but i really don’t know.

my liesl/louisa costumes aren’t as complicated as i thought, but there are a LOT of them! my costumes were designed to be a mix of liesl and louisa so that it doesn’t matter which role i go on as. it’s nice, i was worried about having two complete sets of costumes! i think the only one i remember being different was the dirty liesl dress and slip, which obviously louisa doesn’t have. there are so many costumes. the wedding costume was being made from scratch so i have no descriptors for that one.

they are pretty complicated costumes, with zippers, snaps, clips, etc all over the place.
i think otherwise everything else was done, or close to it. i’ll be sure to get pix in all of my costumes.

as the costume shop is in baltimore, i’m actually going to do my fitting when i go home the weekend before we leave. rehearsals start in manhattan for the kids the following monday, so thats when they’ll have their final fittings, but because i’m AEA, i can’t attend the rehearsals in NYC, so i have to do my final fitting on another day, hence baltimore!
